Free Breathing

Published April 1, 2013 by Phoenix

Sometimes taking a deep breath is more refreshing without an freshener overhead.

In December 2012, unbeknownst to me, my gallbladder was going on the fritz. I had just closed a relationship. The holidays were coming and I was fried on several other personal and professional levels. I needed some free breathing.

Happy Magic Love Dust wasn’t fun any more. It was a chore. Each posting throughout the week was getting tougher to write. I realized that it had become about taking care of other’s expectations rather than the joy of sharing happiness, thought, goofiness or soul touching comments. Because Happy Magic Love Dust is about sharing the “Spark(le) of life”, I had to take a break.

Taking a break from HMLD, I also took a break from being unfocused. Starting mid-Dec, I was going to

drop Facebook
take time off from HMLD
remove all old and irrelevant pages/postings from Google Search (as best I could)

and focus on three things through at least the end of March:

  1. Exercise/Body care/heart & mind
  2. Job
  3. Renovating the interior surface of my home i.e. purge, organize, redo
Take a control of your environment. Focus. Breathe Deep.

Take a control of your environment. Focus. Breathe Deep.

The exercise I do is Bikram Yoga, (the other is running when it’s warmer). My goal was to attend 4 to 6 days out of the week. I found I can do it, but much happier going 3 times a week. My heart is more balanced and overall healthy (gallbladder taken out 1 week before my insurance went into affect in January), is way up from what it’s ever been. I FEEL ALIVE!

The job focus was to become more efficient and accurate. Nearing the end of my three month, an idea was offered to me because someone on the interior saw potential. I now have a 36 month goal to become a loan officer and will build my audience and referral partners in the mean time. Updated profiles, new professional photos coming and connections, reconnecting, has begun. I LOVE HELPING PEOPLE FOLLOW THEIR PASSIONS!

Renovating and purging has begun in earnest. I have taken three car loads of stuff to the Thrift Shop. Posted furniture and items I no longer need, for sale and begun the re-do of the guest bathroom and torn out the carpeting there and in the guest bedroom. Over a long period of time, (about a year), I’ll be resurfacing the walls, floors through the entire house, kitchen redo on cabinets and Master Bath. HAPPY DANCE!

Basically, I took a deep breath.

When we’re convoluted with too much clutter, it dampens the soul. Builds depression and pulls us from our paths of light, celebration, joy. In our Bikram Yoga studio, we have two air fresheners. One on each side of the room. They’re on timers. I used to enjoy the back row until one day, the freshener went off and I was doing a heavy intake of breath. Um, not a good thing for my sensitive nose, pores and lungs. Now, I’m front row and focused and fine with the air fresheners right where they are.

I took control of my environment in class by moving to an uncomfortable place, the front row and am now loving it. De-cluttered my view and my focus. Did the same thing in my life. I took a deep breath free of the fumes i.e. all the clutter, that was offensive and am breathing a whole lot easier.

Breathe with me?

Seasons of Love Dust

Published February 20, 2012 by Phoenix

Snow comes.

Snow goes.

Seasons on earth, in life & of the heart are all part of the cycle.

It’s a lot more fun than stagnation.

In the Southern state of North Carolina, we’ll have summer weather in the middle of the winter. Our weather patterns can go from cold 26 degrees to warm 70 degrees in a matter of days. This weekend, we got snow after days of very warm weather. Rare here in the South and usually only lasting a day, sometimes up to three.

On waking to the day, with snow on the mind, I thought of the changing of the seasons. This brought to mind that when water moves, ponds, lakes and oceans refresh. When the winds blow they bring warmth, cold, damaging winds, healing rains. When the earth turns, the seasons change. Life is about changing, growing using our past as lessons and opportunities for more beautiful tomorrows.

When we decide that change is dangerous and we get stuck in behaviors and patterns that are unhealthy, like a pond with no moving water, or a river that gets choked off, our spirits begin to die. Our hearts shut down. Our bodies generate hormones and chemicals that continue to generate the same negative thoughts and feelings that again, regenerates the same dark tumbling desire to keep the changes at bay. We become a stagnant oasis.

Stagnation stinks. As fascinating as the bacteria can be that grows and multiplies, which funnily enough changes and re-ignites life into what was once a dying place. The process of regeneration can be painful, stinky and in the end healing. Why then, go through the process of attempting to hold back change?

Why go through the stagnation process?

It only holds off the inevitable.

Change.

Will you share with us one of those moments in life that brought about growth and change in your life?
