Step Back and Breathe

Published March 27, 2012 by Phoenix

When it seems everything that could get in your way when you feel changes need to be made, does, step back and breathe.

Might need to let go of the how.

Question Mark

Step back and breathe.

I’m dealing with a deeply personal issue. Every time I try to face it and come to a decision, technology, timing, circumstances build to disallow me a path toward the decision I’ve made.

Today was a day to resolve the issue. This morning (single Mom), my daughter was too sick for school. The traffic was atrocious. My schedule keeps the issue from being resolved…of course, I had to growl & curse the winds before I remembered…

  • I breathe.
  • I let go of making things happen.
  • I surrender to ‘being’.
  • All things in time & letting go of the ‘how’.

What a great weight off my shoulders.

What have you done to change your perspective & to gain control by letting go?

This Too Shall Pass

Published February 29, 2012 by Phoenix

Sometimes, situations in life totally suck.

Chin up, heart open.

“This” too shall pass & you’ll be all the better for it. (I hope).

Somersault

It just takes a different perspective.

This morning, my daughter was late to school. Several things added to the problem, the biggest, I woke up 90mins late.

The school’s county policy is: Late for ‘unexcused reasons’ means the student gets punished. The county says that parents who bring their children to school late are giving their child an ‘unexcused tardy’. My daughter get’s punished for my being late. It’s HORRIBLE! She has to sit at a different table during lunch & will feel humiliated. The school calls it ‘being swept’. I personally think it’s disgusting that she is punished for my tardiness. She was in tears when I left & to top it off, giving her a hug, pulled her earring by accident & caused her even more pain.

NOT a great start to a cold wet morning. :(

Will we remember this day in 20 years? Who knows. Will this day be imprinted for the next 2 years for my daughter? Yes. Why? Because there are policies in place to punish the student for the parent’s who’ve abused the school systems. Why? Because the school system cannot punish the parents. NOT COOL! The humiliation, disappointment, frustration of this morning’s tardiness will be imprinted on my daughter’s heart & mind for ages to come. Very frustrating & infuriating.

I wanted to lash out at the closest decision maker who kept saying, “it’s policy. Sorry. Can’t do anything about it”. It isn’t my life’s purpose to choke the living snot out of ‘policy followers’ though, or to go chasing down & working on changing every policy that punishes the masses for the few who abuse the systems. grrrrr

This will be a minor blip on the road of life – however, it’s one that encourages me to remember, “this too shall pass“. My daughter will be getting extra loving attention & lots of apologies this evening.

Have you had a similar experience & then remembered, “this too shall pass”? Tell us your story & share this post with others who might be having a hard day.
